Job Description:

EBAD seeks an engineer for the position of an Electronics Development Engineer, reporting to the Product Development Lead. The Electronics Development Engineer is responsible for the technical performance of internal and external programs. They lead a cross-functional team in all technical aspects of the program from concept through development, qualification, and production. They serve as the technical lead for the design, development, validation, and troubleshooting of both flight products and Electronics Support Equipment (ESE) and Special Test Equipment (STE). The position requires coordination with multi-discipline team members to ensure that the product meets internal and external requirements. The position is located in Simsbury, CT.

Responsibilities:

The position requires leadership experience with knowledge in electrical hardware product development from requirement analysis to system level integration & test.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise to verify and validate requirements
  • Assess and analyze technical risks, then create and execute risk mitigation plans
  • Own the development, maintenance, and coordination of technical data packages
  • Perform hands-on testing of electronics assemblies in a development lab environment
  • Participate in environmental and dynamic testing of development, qualification, and production top-level assemblies
  • Managing technical communications with customers
  • Support internal Continuous Improvement efforts to increase organizational effectiveness
  • Generate technical reports for development tests and analyses
  • Conceptualize and architect test equipment solutions for safety critical electronic products
  • Complete trade studies of commercial off-the-shelf test systems
  • Write test specifications & statements of work for hardware / software design.
  • Develop derived requirements for products and test system(s)
  • Provide cabling and mechanical interfaces/enclosures to detail designers
  • Lead high level design review meetings
  • Develop Con-ops for the detailed designers
  • Write hardware & software validation plans / procedures
  • Write operators manuals for internal and external usage
  • Troubleshoot hardware to support production needs
  • Hands-on oversight of hardware in the loop testing

Requirements:

The successful candidate shall have a BS/MS in Electrical or Computer engineering (other engineering disciplines may be acceptable).

Required experience includes:

  • Demonstrated competency in developing automated test equipment and electronic products
  • Digital and/or analog circuit board troubleshooting
  • Experience using National Instruments data acquisition equipment including LabVIEW
  • Experience reviewing SolidWork drawings/models
  • Requirements derivation and specification
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with teammates, test technicians, management and with customers.
  • Proven ability to interpret and analyze mechanical, and/or electrical specification requirements and data.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous aerospace industry test lab or production environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with programs such as Altium Designer and SolidWorks
  • Experience with high speed (100nS), high voltage measurement (up to 2kV)
  • Experience with requirements for harsh environments such as vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and humidity
